CHESTER Push
A major European manufacturer of packaging solutions faced the challenge of streamlining communication in the workplace and better-managing work tasks among employees. The solution was deploying the ANDON system CHESTER Push, which was used for the first time with two-way communication and brought new possibilities for coordination and clarity.
Thanks to our solution, the manufacturing company has gained more efficient production and optimized production processes.
CHESTER Push was installed at each workstation with three buttons for quick reporting:
- Bring material
- Take production away
- I need help
The buttons allowed employees to easily communicate their needs. Each push of a button automatically triggers an action:
Visualize the need:
When the button is pressed, the LED light on the device turns red, and a new task (task) with the specific job and requirement is displayed in the app.
Accepting the task:
The relevant employee accepts the task in the web app or on mobile. The button's LED light turns green to indicate that help is on its way.
Task completion:
When the task is completed, the task is un-clicked in the app, and the LED on the CHESTER Push turns off.
Installation
The installation of the CHESTER Andon system was simple. The CHESTER device was attached to the workstation using the DUAL lock, the power was plugged into the wall outlet, and the entire system was up and running. Unfortunately, the installation did not have "baby" problems, but everything was quickly fixed with a firmware update.
The deployment of CHESTER Push has brought significant improvements in organization and clarity:
Improved communication:
Managers have an immediate overview of the needs of each department.
Reduced delays:
Quick acceptance and resolution of tasks have reduced downtime in production.
Increased visibility:
The dashboard provides detailed statistics, such as:
How many times which button was pressed in a specific time period.
Identifying the workstations with the most frequent requests.
An overview of how many production cycles were completed per day.
The deployment of CHESTER Push with two-way communication has enabled the packaging manufacturer to significantly increase efficiency and visibility in in-house logistics. This innovative approach has led to increased active time for forklift drivers, reduced production line downtime, and more efficient request handling. In addition, it provides valuable analytical tools for long-term operational improvements.
"Deploying CHESTER Push has enabled us to respond quickly to the needs of individual sites, eliminate unnecessary downtime, and streamline the entire logistics process. It was a step in the right direction towards a more modern and transparent operation," says Bohumil Čapek, project manager of the implementation.
